Long long ago, a Novice lived in a buddhist temple in a mountain.
His buddhist name was Zzz-Ting.
昔々ある山寺に、ズイテンという小僧がありました．
One day, the minister of the temple went out and the Novice stayed alone.
A Fox suddenly came to the entrance of the residential house area of the temple.
And the Fox called, "Zzz-Ting! Zzz-Ting!"
和尚様がよそへ行って独りで留守居をしていますと、きっと狐が庫裡の口へ来て、ズイテン、ズイテン、と呼びました．
The Novice was very offended.
Then, he moved to the main hall of the temple and looked through a window.
The Fox stood turning its back on the entrance.
あまり憎らしいので本堂の窓へまわって覗いて見ましたら、狐は入り口に背中を向けて立っています．
As the Fox rubbed its thick tail against the door, a sound "Zzz" was heard.
As the Fox knocked its head against the door, a sound "Ting" was heard.
そうして、太い尻尾で戸をこすると、ズイという音がする．
それから頭をとにぶっつけると、テンという音がするのでありました．
The Novice was clever.
He returned back rapidly, stood by the door stealthily, and threw open the door when he heard of a sound "Zzz".
The Fox, which was just about to knock the door for a sound "Ting", rolled into the yard of the residential house.
賢い小僧さんだから早速戻って来て、そっと戸口の脇に来て立っていて、ズイという音がした時にガラリと戸を開けますと、テンと戸を叩こうとしていた狐は、庫裡の庭へ転げこみました．
Immediately he closed the door, took a club and chased the Fox.
すぐに、その戸を締めて置いて、棒を持って来て狐を追っかけましたが、・・・
After a while, he lost sight of the Fox.
・・・そのうちに狐の姿は見えなくなってしまいました．
