ＷＥＢ絵本『饗宴』

The night sky with thirsty scattered stars has tightly covered the ground.

乾いた星を散りばめて夜空はぴったりと地上に被さっている．

The dusty zinc roofs look as if they were collapsed.
So, the people appear from the inside of their houses as if they were also collapsed.

埃まみれの亜鉛屋根は押し潰されたようになっているので、そのなかにいる人間も押し潰されたような姿で、家の外に出てくる．

A dusty road runs outside the houses.
There remains heat of daytime.

家の外につづいているのは昼間の熱のまだ残っている埃だらけの路である．

The lukewarm road stands out vaguely and whitely.
This road is mysterious and nostalgic like a secret of the souls of exhausted people.
And it is no longer going to speak of anything.

生温かい道路は茫として白く浮き上っている．
この道路は、疲れきった人間の魂の秘密のように、妖しく、懐かしく、そして、もはや何ごとも語ろうとしない．

The exhausted people stopped to view the dusty road for a while.
And they got into their small houses again ...

疲れきった人間は暫く立留まって、埃の路をうち眺め、それからまた狭い家屋に這入ってしまう・・・

It seems that the rain has forgotten to fall onto this ground.
And there is much stuffiness in the small indoors and on the road evenly.
The people who cannot sleep have already given up sleeping.

雨はもうこの地上を訪れることを忘れたらしく、狭い屋内にも道路にも呼吸苦しさが一様に漲っている．
睡れない人間はもはや睡れないことを諦めている．

However, suddenly, sound starts as if someone spreads fine sand on the zinc roofs.
It is falling timidly.
But soon, a downpour comes making loud sound.

ところが、ふと、亜鉛屋根に微かな砂を散ずるような音が始まる．
ためらい勝ちに落ちていたが、やがて沛然と音をたてて勢のいい雨が訪れる．

The roofs, the trees, the road and everything burst into tears.
Clinging onto the rain, they are crying bitterly.

屋根も、樹木も、道路も、みんなが、みんな泣き出す．
雨に抱きついて、おいおいと泣くのである．
