ＷＥＢ絵本「御辛労の池」

むかし肥後国の八幡村で、御社の近くの古池の水をさらえて、池の魚を捕ろうとしたことがありました．

Long long ago, people of Yawata village of Higo province tried to catch the fish of the old pond near the village shrine.
So, they were drawing the water out of the pond.

八月一日の日であったといいますが、朝から村の人たちが残らず集まって、せっせと水を汲み上げましたけれども、いつまで経っても換え乾すことが出来ません．

This was on 1st day of August.
All the village people came together in the morning.
And they earnestly drew water from the pond.
A long time passed but they couldn't drain water off.

そのうちに夕方になって、もう大分底に近くなったように思っていますと、だしぬけに見たことのない人が一人、その水の中から出てきました．

そうしてピョコンと御辞儀をして、皆様御辛労と言ったかと思うと、忽ち何処かへ消えてしまって・・・

And then, the evening came.
The people thought that the water surface was near the bottom.
Suddenly, a strange person appeared from the water.
Then, he bowed and said "All of you! Take care!"
And he suddenly disappeared somewhere.

・・・池の水はすぐに又もとの通り、池に一杯になってしまいましたそうです．

それからこの池の名を御辛労の池と言って、誰も魚を捕ろうとする者がいなくなりました．

Imediately, the pond filled with water as it was before.
After that, this pond was called the Take-Care pond.
And nobody tried to catch fish in the pond.
