I open my eyes, and all I see is pure white... Yesterday, he woke up in the park. As usual, he and his older brother spent the day wandering around the area, looking for food. And then he remembered... a huge shadow dropping from the sky and snatching them both up. The next thing... “Oh... oh my God!! Bro! Bro!” mumble mumble... “Dude, just five minutes...” “Seriously, look! You gotta see this!” “Wh- what the actual...!” White. No matter where they turned- just a desert of pure white. “Bro, this has gotta be that one thing! Frickin' extraterrestrial abduction!” “?...extra tortilla confection? “What? No! How the hell did you hear that? I mean we've been TAKEN by ALIENS!” “Mother of God!” The older boy's voice resounded throughout the area and echoed back to where they stood. Somehow, it seemed like they were shut away in some kind of gigantic room. “So...white...Wh... What the hell are we going to do?!” The older, looking at his brother who was now on the verge of tears, fought to put on his best tough guy act. “Hey! Get yourself together! We gotta look for a way out!” “O..okay...” The pure white sand pilled into small balls around their feet. The two of them ran desperately around the area searching for an exit, but the vast, sprawling desert appeared to be surrounded by some sort of transparent barrier. “Bro... Hate to say it, but... it's over... there's no way we're...” “Don't say that! Come on!... tch. Frickin' aliens, dude.” Laying his exhausted brother down to rest, the older brother began furiously digging into the ground. “Listen up! This invisible wall right here? There's gotta be an opening if we dig down far enough. That's our way out!” “Bro...” He continued digging and digging, diagonally down against the unseen wall for hours and hours, until he was finally surrounded on all four sides by the whiteness. However... no exit was to be found. The energy-drained older brother finally emerged from the hole and flopped down next to his brother on the colorless ground. “Y'know, dude... If were' gonna die here, I would've at least liked to stuff my face with sweets before it all ends.” There was no response. In a haze of starvation, the younger brother was bringing a clump of the white sand toward his mouth. “H-hey! Dude! What the hell are you thinking putting that strange stuff in your mouth! What if it's poisonous!?” “B...b....br...broooooooo!” “Wh-what? What is it?! What's wrong?!” “It's all... this is all... SUGAR!” “NO WAY!” The true nature of the mysterious white sand was none other than their favorite dessert. They became completely unaware of anything else and continued devouring the ground. “Gah! I though I was gonna eat an entire mountain's-worth of sugar, but I am stuffed!” “I'm so full, too...” The two of them gazed up at the sky from the middle of that vast, white world, rubbing their plump bellies. “I'm so happy...” “Yeah, me too...” “Those alien guys are pretty thoughtful, huh...” “That's it! Let's just stay here forever. Then we never have to scavenge for food anymore and we can just eat and sleep, eat and sleep, eat and sleep for the rest of our lives!” “Ohh~ Yeah! I like that!” “Right??” “We're so happy here, huh, bro...” “Yup.... so happy...” “So... happy...” “Yup. Bro.” “Hey, bro...” “Yeah...?” “We're definitely in heaven, huh...” “Yep. A white heaven...” In a kitchen, a small elementary school-aged boy runs over to his mom as she's getting dinner ready, holding a huge bottle with both of his hands. “Moommm! My ants died!!” “Aw! Well, I guess you can't use them for your science report anymore.” “No, it's ok! I'm just gonna write that if you keep ants in a sugar house, they die.” “Won't the teacher get mad if that's your whole report?” “But that's not the whole report! The ants dug a hole, and they built a house in there too, right?” In the bottle packed with nothing but sugar held in those hands of the boy absorbed in the conversation with his mother, lay two, glorious ants on top of that sugar ground. Finally unable to move, their bodies lay peacefully and friendly side-by-side.
